Oasis of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise ship to date, is equipped with 16 decks, seven designed “neighborhood” areas, and luxurious accommodations and amenities to suit 5,400 guests. Among the hottest nightlife spots aboard the ship is Blaze Nightclub, one of Oasis’ two club venues. With low, oval-shaped ceilings, Blaze Nightclub was a challenging space to light. Michael Riotto Design (MRD) needed a versatile lighting solution that would add dynamic visual effects to the space, but that would also fit neatly and look clean, without any low-hanging fixtures. To meet these requirements, MRD selected 64 Traxon 64PXL Mirror Wash RGB panels for this award-winning design. The Mirror Wash panels were arranged flush against one another with a slight taper to fit the club’s oval ceiling, allowing enough space to accommodate the club’s sprinkler system while maintaining visual continuity. The vibrant installation is controlled by an e:cue LCS 1 which manages the Blaze’s 32 DMX universes and allows playback of a variety of videos, graphics, and animations. This dynamic control system artfully synchronizes the nightclub’s intelligent lighting, smoke effects, and LED elements, delivering an exciting overall experience.
