Johann Lafer’s four-season restaurant “Le Val d’Or” stemmed from the idea to create a holistic restaurant that brings guests’ senses to life, while dining on upscale cuisine from a seasonal, locally-sourced menu. To bring the culinary experience to the next level, the Lafer family decided to extend the four-season concept to the restaurant’s décor. Lighting designer Tobias Link created a concept comprised of different layers integrating light and music, which plays an integral role in the overall design. Different fixtures illuminate the tables individually and create an intimate atmosphere, regardless of the number of guests. The walls are washed in warm light, and dynamic graphics interpret the different seasons, all controlled by e:cue’s Lighting Control Engine 2 (LCE2) and Butler XT. Additionally, a Mobile Action Pad App with a clear user interface for easy operation has been developed via the Lighting Application Suite (LAS) for this project. The comprehensive lighting installation by Tobias Link doesn’t only enhance the culinary enjoyment, but visually adds to the experience.
